In 1919 three things occurred concurrently, Edwin Booth's statue was unveiled in Gramercy Park, the Volstead Act was passed making alcohol beverages illegal in the United States and the John Wilkes Booth circus mummy was stolen after a horrific train wreck.
Through a secret, long unusued entrance we will enter a hidden speakeasy in Edwin Booth's mansion. Try my bootlegger grandmother's anisette on your way in. It will help you see more clearly.
We will need that clarity. I'm currently investigating why the celebrated Shakespearean actor, John Wilkes Booth murdered Abraham Lincoln in 1865 and I need your help.
Join me while I explore The Speakeasy, The Parlor, The Sargent Room, The Seance Room, The Billiard Room, The Library, Mark's Twain's Gambling Room and The Burlesque Performer's Dressing Room -- some of you may even be lucky enough to find the key to Edwin's bedroom. The room hasn't been touched since he died in 1893.
I have heard that the mansion is haunted by an assortment of Booth ghosts, young and old, so bring your courage (or buy some of the alcoholic variety while there) and meet me in the speakeasy.
With love, Cynthia von Buhler
