Goulash Disko are mixing things up next month! After a true Mediterranean patchanka right by the Liffey last month, our crew decided to brew a real storm: a Balkan Cumbia Soundclash! Sounds strange? Not to worry! Hypnotic and infectious cumbia beats sound 75.4% better when blended with some Slavic-Mediterranean drunken musical madness. SCIENCE.
BALKAN ALIEN SOUND will expertly blend Irish folk and Balkan trad rhythms, and, regardless of the weather forecast for the night (they're never really accurate, aren't they?), you'd swear that Derry, their hometown, was deep in the Balkans.
We've also invited DJ TAGADA and PEDROLITO from Paris but don't let the French accent fool you: we're far from serving you baguettes & cheese. Rock a 'tache, a striped t-shirt and a beret if you feel like it (anything goes!), but be prepared to hear and experience the Gypsy side of France blended with tropical and cumbia rhythms.
Remember: we're all about getting you in a festival mood: Goulash Disko, or as those who went there last year like to call it: "a week in paradise" is coming!
PEDROLITO (Radioglobal, Paris)
DJ/Digger, he's crazy about tropical bass. He specially loves to dig on nueva cumbia and share his discoveries with his "Dale amor a la cumbia que la cumbia te lo devuelve" mixtapes, on Radio Groovalizacion, Radioglobal .org and other global broadcasts.
TAGADA (BalkanBeats Paris)
Versatile DJ with a keen interest in music from the Balkans, Tagada was the first to export the Balkan Beats concept in France, and quickly became the reference in the matter. Tagada promised us a frenetic set, full of brass, bass and madness.
BALKAN ALIEN SOUND (live, Derry)
Balkan Alien Sound bring melodic chaos in the style of Gypsy, Klezmer and Balkan songs and dances with energetic rhythms and fast paced melodies that can often leave crowds riotous with dance. The fact that the group are all Irish is an important factor as this comes through in their sound merging together both the similarities and the differences in Balkan and Irish Music stylings.
