To be seated and jeering on our laps
As we take afternoon coffee.

Later, stacked neatly into an epic mattress for the sleep,
28 stories high.

Voices muffled by the weight but still yammering on...


This project was conceived of in the seaside town of Çeşmealtı, Urla, on the Aegean coast of Turkey in 2013. Chips in the Night is an exercise in locating the story and storytelling the location. Or?

Caitlin Gallupe is an artist and musician based in Victoria who has shown work and participated in residencies throughout North America and Japan. She plays in various bands and has toured extensively across Canada, America, Europe and China.

Elif Saydam is a Turkish-Canadian artist living in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, where she is currently studying under Monika Baer at Städelschule Staatliche Hochschule für Bildende Künste.
