This is a very special evening for all of us - After working hard in solitary confinement for 7 months since their last EP 'Eye Spy'; Half Crown are delighted to have two very talented bands join them for their latest LP launch at The Haunt.
HEADLINER - HALF CROWN (www.halfcrownband.com)
"The aim seems to be to blur the boundaries between any genre they decide to sync their teeth into..
Half Crown seem to see no limits to their own musical exploration and as a result have created something truly unique".
Producing an electrifying, guitar and drum driven sound with bass and brass bobbing beneath the surface. 3-part-harmonies pay homage to the insightful lyrics and soulful vocal.
Half Crown are a refreshingly experimental, 5-piece band from Brighton. A fine amalgamation of individually creative artists, working as one to twist and tweak the very fibres of Blues, Ska, Dub, Folk, Jazz, Reggae, Hip-Hop and Rock
Following main supports slots for the likes of Rizzle Kicks and The Correspondents back in 2013, rightfully so, Half Crown proceed in earning a reputation for their oozing, infectious energy and crowd pleasing performances - awarded 'Best Unsigned Band of the Year 2013' by S & M magazine would be just one indication that this diamond in the dirt is not to be over looked!
MAIN SUPPORT - CHARLIE WINSTON (www.charliewinston.com)
Flying all the way from France we have one of the most successful British Folk artist in Europe! On this evening we're joined by the unique and exceptionally talented Charlie Winston.
In 2009 he released his second album 'Like A Hobo' which shot to number one in the iTunes chart within forty eight hours; was number one on all download charts for four weeks, a feat only ever achieved by four other artists. Certified platinum, the album CD has now been in the top ten of the physical charts since its launch in January and the single topped the French CD charts on its release.
Charlie is making his entrance back to the UK with the forthcoming release of his new album in 2014!!
OPENING SUPPORT - TOWN OF CATS (www.townofcatsband.com)
Kicking off the night we have the Brighton based Gyp-Hop, Ska, Latino band 'Town of Cats' who will take to the stage to open the evening in style.
‘Grabbed by their scruffs, thrown in a rough hessian sack and tossed in the lake shortly after birth by some farmer or other, Town of Cats shoulda been goners before they even got started.’
This is an experience not to be missed - with saxophones, trumpets, flutes and other mystical objects being thrown around the stage left right and center, this exuberant bunch of charismatic cats will blow your mind in several places. Reminiscent of a scene from a drunken pirate ship with energy that far exceeds your household microwave/nuclear reactor, this is certainly not for the feint hearted.
Batten down the hatches Brighton, we may have had a tough winter but you aint seen nothing yet!
