Skip One Starbucks - Donate $5
Almost one year ago I was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. It doesn't get much scarier than that but I've been lucky; it was caught fairly early and my treatment has been successful so far.
Last summer my son, Brandon, walked in a 5k fund raiser called Purple Stride put on by the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network. I had personal experience with them after my diagnosis and they were wonderful. They provided information through their website, by snail mail, email and phone. They put me in touch with survivors which gave me hope. I told Brandon that I WOULD walk it with him next year and I am grateful that I can keep that promise.
The 5k is June 14th in Washington, DC - anyone in the area is more than welcome to join us (please use the link to sign up). What I am looking for with this event is for many people to donate a small amount to add up to big things. Personally, when people ask me to donate to their cause, I give $5. Not enough that it 'hurts' me but its something. That's what I'm asking you to do.
We have from now until the beginning of June to solicit donations and the link is below - please take a moment to donate to this very worthy cause. Some facts below to help you out...
Donate $12 to represent the fact that every 12 minutes someone new is diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.
Donate $20 to help double the pancreatic cancer survival rate by 2020.
Donate $45 to represent the more than 45,000 people diagnosed with pancreatic cancer this year.
Donate $180 because the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network has awarded nearly $18 million in grants to fund pancreatic cancer research.
Please don't wait, click on the link and donate today.
