We're challenging area charitable nonprofit organizations to recruit blood donors. It sounds nice, but this is a blood battle!
Charities will compete with one another to see who can score the most points by recruiting blood donors. The stakes are high: the top charity will win $10,000 in cash!
It's all made possible by the generous support of our Bleed for a Cause sponsors.
2nd Annual Bleed for a Cause is sponsored by Montgomery Inn and Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing North America. Thanks to their generosity and commitment to the community, this competition will reward the top three charities with direct financial support.
How it works. Your organization and all of your supporters persuade people to donate blood in July 2014. They give blood in your organization’s name. You earn points. The three charities with the most points are the winners! And here’s what they will win …
1st Place = $10,000
2nd Place = $5,000
3rd Place = $2,500
You sign up in April and you compete in July. The 2014 campaign is throughout the month of July and is open to 501(c)3 charitable nonprofit organizations currently in good standing.*
Groups must register for the program before April 30, 2014.
We will make sure you’re ready to recruit blood donors and compete for $10,000! You will be trained and equipped so you can recruit blood donors.
You will recruit donors to give at any of our eight Neighborhood Donor Centers or to a community blood drive. There are also a limited number of blood drive options available to qualifying groups who can also host their own blood drive; these blood drive options will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Charities recruit people to donate blood. Charities receive points when donors register to give blood in the name of the charity. To score points for a charity, donors must mention the charity during the registration process prior to donating blood. Think “No Say = No Pay!” Points are earned for recruiting blood donors and for the type of blood donation made.
Whole Blood donation = 1 point
Double Red donation = 2 points
Platelet donation = 3 points
1st time donor will receive “bonus” = 2 points
The most points any one donor can score is 5: first-time donor giving a platelet donation. Platelet donors can give every two weeks. If a platelet donor donates multiple times during July, all those donations will be counted.
