In early 2013 Paula Wolfert was diagnosed with an early stage
of Alzheimer's Disease. Since then, she has decided to put her
prestigious culinary career on hold to devote herself to
Alzheimer's activism, raising awareness about the disease
in partnership with the Alzheimer's Association.
Paula Wolfert is the author of eight cookbooks, all considered classics.
Among them: Couscous and Other Good Food From Morocco,
The Cooking of Southwest France, and five books on
Mediterranean cuisine. She has won the Julia Child Award three times,
The James Beard Award five times and The M.F.K. Fisher Award.
Now dedicated to speaking out about Alzheimer's Disease,
Paula urges people who suspect that they may
have the disease to get tested, asserting her belief that
"denial is not a viable option".
