You are cordially invited to a very special performance/fundraiser by and for a close friend of the Magoski Arts Colony, Chantal deFelice, entitled "Miscellaneous Species". This audio/visual show is composed of 4 banks of original video clips, divided into Land, Ocean, Sky and Microscopic themes. All of the layering and manipulation of video effects is done in real-time and in conjunction with music. This special event is on Friday, June 13th at 7pm.
When Chantal received the news that her studio workspace, Thump Gallery, would be closing June 1st, she decided to take the opportunity to hit the road on an artistic expedition and 'self-styled' artist residency program. In the hopes of raising funds to facilitate this trip, and to help her purchase a laptop, the Magoski Arts Colony invited her to share her unique work in the form of an audio visual experience. We at the Colony love to help support artists and their dreams. When you buy a ticket to this show, here is what you will be supporting, in the artist's own words:
"I'll be packing up my car with drawing and painting materials, science reference books, typewriter, camera, projector and of course, my microscope. My first stop will be in Tuscon for a private tour of the UA Steward Observatory Mirror Laboratory, which is currently polishing one of the seven 27' mirrors that will be part of the Giant Magellan Telescope. From there I will drive to Oak Cliff, TX to spend a month working on a new architectural illustration series, investigation of local specimens for my "Hunting with the Microscope" photomicrography series, and development of live video/3D projection mapping skills for Pageant of Living Things, a multi-media collaboration with Jason Phillips.
Crucial to the artistic output of this experience would be the use of a laptop computer. With the help of a laptop, I would have the tools needed to project outdoors, in natural or urban settings, to edit/print photos along the way, and also be able to project live visual shows to accompany musical performances."
Tickets for the show cost $20 and may be purchased at the door.
See you there!
