Luna, an American belly dancer, is one of the most sought-after dancers in Cairo. She performs daily on the Nile Memphis, dances at 5-star resorts across the country, makes regular appearances at 5-star venues, and was featured on Egypt's 24/7 belly dance TV channel "El-Tet." Luna also makes regular appearances at weddings and corporate events. Most recently, Luna appeared in the music videos of Egypt's most popular singers, including Higazi Mitqal, Ragab El-Prince, and Ahmed Salah, and was featured in the movie "Mamaleek."
In 2008, Luna left New York City on a Fulbright scholarship to write a book about dance in Egypt. While she was conducting research, she began performing in Cairo, noted for her authentic Egyptian style, technical precision and stage presence and was contracted at the Semiramis Hotel in 2010. In addition to her dancing, Luna holds a Masters degree in Middle Eastern Studies from Harvard University, where she studied radical Islamist movements in the Arab world. She is fluent in Egyptian Arabic, Spanish, and English, and holds a B.A. in journalism and political science.
Luna keeps a blog about her experiences as a foreign belly dancer in Cairo. You can keep up with her and her crazy adventures at Kisses from Kairo* http://www.kissesfromkairo.blogspot.com/
