Dreamy Duets description:
Wondering how to put some pizzazz into your American Tribal Style® duets? This workshop will give you the concepts and tools you need to connect with your dance partner and create a visually stunning duet. By incorporating circles and passes, as well as considering which moves are most effective in the duet formation, we'll get everyone comfortable with this challenging but rewarding formation. Special attention will be given to defeating "symmetry brain," or how when you're facing inward, there's a tendency to mirror your dance partner's move symmetrically rather than stay on the correct side (moving your right arm when she moves her right arm, etc). Expect to make eye contact, take the lead, laugh, smile, and have fun!
A basic understanding of ATS moves and formations (through at least Level 2) is ideal for this workshop, but we'll work with you wherever you're at. Knowledge of basic duet passes (Turkish, Camel, and Chico) is a plus. Bring zils, water, and something to take notes with.
Tribal Fusion description:
A key component of tribal fusion belly dance is layering: the ability to execute a move while simultaneously doing another move, either with the same or a different part of the body. In this workshop, we'll drill various layering techniques (staccato plus soft, sharp on sharp, and slow on slow) and learn a choreography that puts them all together. This will be a physically and mentally rigorous workshop; expect to have a "gah my brain is exploding!" moment at some point and just roll with it. The more you incorporate these drills into your home practice, the more you'll get out of them, and to that end, handouts will be provided to help you remember these fun, crazy combos.
Knowledge of American Tribal Style® or another tribal style of belly dance will be helpful in this workshop, as it is called TRIBAL fusion for a reason. We will do a brief review of tribal posture and some key movements while warming up. Make sure to bring water and something to take notes with.
Space is limited for both workshops! Please register to reserve your spot. You can save a spot by paying via PayPal / firstname.lastname@example.org or send a check (by June 12th) to Red Door Vardo Arts 5312 Algonquin Trail Kokomo In 46902
