Solid Events Presents
Saturday June 28.2014 [TICKETS ON SALE TOMORROW 2PM]
It’s the magic from the young Dutchman Sandro Silva that is the future sound of electro. Blazing hot with releases on Revealed, Spinnin, Mixmash and Dim Mak and pounding the stage at EDC Las Vegas, Electric Zoo NY, Tomorrowworld, Amnesia Ibiza, plus several North American tours in 2013 its undeniable the roads are fast, but there’s no brakes in this music career.
Electrifying with Mixmash icon Laidback Luke, Sandro Silva filled a gap in the dance music world, lead in a solid electronic direction by the main man while blasting his natural talent. Owning breakthrough status on Pete Tong’s Essential Selection show with ‘Prom Night’ saw the track blow up as Essential Choice followed by buzz from dance music legends Eric Prydz, David Guetta, Sebastian Ingrosso and Tiesto. His track ‘Epic’, a collaboration with Quintino released on Musical Freedom grabbed YouTube with over 15 million views, crashing charts globally and hitting platinum in Holland and Gold in Belgium.
Anticipated by icons across electronic music, Sandro’s release on Spinnin Records with ‘Puna’ is large, as is ‘Payback’ out later in the year on Hardwell’s Revealed Recordings; after a heart-pounding drop at Tomorrowland by the king himself. The winter months will see a massive release on Sander van Doorn’s Doorn Records and Calvin Harris’s Fly Eye Records, after EDM’s champion has kept a close but sure reach on him following originals and remixes for himself, Laidback Luke, Rita Ora and more.
With ears pricked, Zedd recently won the tour bet taking Sandro on a date run in late 2013 throughout Mexico on the Clarity tour after experiencing the Silva spirit at David Guetta’s F**k Me I’m Famous in Ibiza. Never shy of an iconic show, Sandro also will grace Australia’s coast line for a heated start to their springtime! Off the back of an epic Electric Zoo show in New York, Sandro has brought to life his US stint while igniting the Mixmash Records tour throughout the North America with Laidback Luke and Oliver Twizt.
Every dance floor has a Silva lining.
Punching well above his years, D.O.D is standing on the edge of becoming an international sensation within club circles. Already finding plaudits among Tiesto, Laidback Luke, David Guetta, Eddie Halliwell, Steve Aoki and Hardwell, his fresh faced beats stalwart has also managed to secure himself a residency with Mixmag for their club and Ibiza tours.
With a DJ style that can only be deemed as inimitable, in-your-face turntable wizardry, D.O.D has managed to secure a wide cross section of fans with his music – which sets about fusing the lines between everything House, Electro, Progressive and Techno.
But whilst his work ethic is familiar of yesteryears hard craft approach, his technical ability is certainly more forward moving. Positioning his musical style as ‘Jump-Up Big Room House’, he utilises 3-4 CDJ’S, DJM900 and an RMX-1000, alongside his own personal edits and bootlegs, to great effect – citing the likes of QBert, DJ Yoda and Grandmaster Flash as inspiration for his style of play. This approach to the art of DJing has led him to share the stage with a whopping ensemble of peek time performers in the past 12 months alone.
With his producing career already off to a flying start, D.O.D can already boast a Beatport No.1 best selling Electro EP 'More Cowbell'. The EP did the damage worldwide, after being signed by the one and only Laidback Luke. Previous tracks from D.O.D’s debut EP also made it onto the ‘Pacha Future Dance’ compilation album. Over the past 12 months D.O.D has released two singles on Steve Aoki’s ‘Dim Mak Records’ which both climbed to the top 30 in Beatport. D.O.D toured with Steve Aoki in Europe, playing events like Tomorrowland to name a few. More recently, D.O.D has remixed Laidback Luke, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike's club smasher 'MORE' which is available July 29th.
Over the course of the next few months his schedule is packed with a string of white-hot club dates UK and internationally including Cream Ibiza, Life In Color Australia, Mint Festival in Leeds, Mandella Hall Belfast, Digital in Newcastle and many more. Not only is his tour diary packed out, but also his studio time. With a huge list of unreleased material just waiting to explode on the scene and a list of upcoming collaborations with the likes of Angger Dimas, Deorro, Jacob Van Hage and Beltek It’s all a great sign for the 25 year old artist.
With enough tricks to keep the eyes as transfixed as the ears, it’s no wonder the world of rave can’t stop their clamour for him. Dance music is at its most potent when all about fresh, hungry and talented youth, and D.O.D represents that lust for measured abandon brilliantly. The dance floor may never be the same again…
In the modern era of dance music, Sweden has done for house music what the Netherlands did for trance and Germany for techno. From electronic titans Eric Prydz, Sebastian Ingrosso and Steve Angello to Avicii, Dada Life and Adrian Lux, Sweden has arguably produced some of the scenes most exported performers in recent times. The awareness of these artists has given rise to a new generation of grassroots talent and one such name that is hotly tipped to follow in the same footsteps as his predecessors is MIKAEL WEERMETS.
Named as "the next big thing" by Tiësto and countless other DJ´s, with numerous awards & nominations for his innovative & forward-thinking DJ-sets,
countless Beatport chart-toppers released on labels from Tiesto´s Musical Freedom to majors such as Interscope & EMI, the 26 year old Swede is taking big steps against worldwide superstardom.
With "FUCK GENRES" as his motto and "SOUND OF NOW" as his vision, Mikael Weermets have sold out shows all across the globe in the last year, all the way from his homecountry Sweden all the way to Singapore, Dubai, Miami, New York, Glasgow, Paris and the list goes on.
Mid 2012 Mikael´s career exploded even more after signing to Tiësto´s label Musical Freedom and from there went on to completely break down the house of some of the biggest festivals
in Europe, including Tomorrowland. After headlining festivals together with names such as Hardwell, Dirty South & Dada Life, you´d think that things couldn't move any faster, but this was only the beginning.
