The next edition of Touring the Cocktail: MOTAC Los Angeles features something near and dear to us: the storied drinks of New Orleans. Tourists to the Crescent City are often offered sticky-sweet versions of the Hurricane and other spirited concoctions, but residents of the Big Easy know that much more interesting and sophisticated beverages are on offer.
Kentucky-born Brent Falco, a Southerner and veteran of acclaimed cocktail spots, including Royal Clayton’s and First and Hope, explains the history and authentic flavors of real New Orleans drinks, while Chef John M. Atkinson, a native Angeleno who studied in Charleston, South Carolina, serves savory samples from his eclectic kitchen. Guests will enjoy expertly prepared cocktails, including the Mint Julep, Sazerac, Vieux Carré, and yes, the Hurricane, all accompanied by gourmet appetizers.
The historic Louie's of Mar Vista, 3817 Grand View Boulevard, hosts the event, Monday, June 16 from 6:30 to 8:00 PM. Tickets are $45 in advance and $50 at the door. Discounted admission at $40 is available to all SoFAB-MOTAC and USBG Members.
