Prince Fatty's Rub A Dub Club

Audio Brighton 10 Marine Parade, Brighton, The City of Brighton and Hove, Regno Unito

The Prince Fatty reggae sound is back in Brighton this June with a sound designed to Dub your feet with Rock Steady beats and stimulate brain waves in a jazz-like way all delivered in an up-beat, positive and organic funk fashion. Mixed in an analog haze of vintage spring reverbs, tape echoes and custom hi-grade mixing console, Prince Fatty won’t disappoint the lovers of the early 70s sound.

★ Prince Fatty

After working as a record producer with artists ranging from Graham Coxon (of Blur), reggae heroes such as Gregory Isaacs and pop stars including Lily Allen Prince Fatty struck out on his own quickly acquiring a reputation as one of the UK’s leading reggae lights. For his first album he assembled an all-star cast of reggae greats including including afrobeat saxophonist Bukky Leo, drummer Style Scott from the Roots Radics and vocalists Hollie Cook, Winston Francis, and Little Roy.

All of the Prince Fatty sounds are recorded on vintage analogue equipment to preserve the signature sound of reggae and dub records. Fatty also strove to update the sound by speeding up tempos and attempting to push the boundaries of classic dub and reggae by referencing the modern influences of hip-hop especially evident in the cover of Dr. Dre and Snoop Dog’s “Gin and Juice”, as well as Ol Dirty Bastards ’s “Shimmy Shimmy Yeah”.
