Ellis Wood has choreographed a generational work entitled Flat Effect. This evening length dance includes two former Martha Graham dancers in their 70's, two New York City up and comers ages 8 and 9; and three other NYC professional dancers ages 21, 25 and 50. The cast includes three mothers from two different generations. Wood's artistic goal is to create a generational ensemble work that merges technical movement with raw and revealing expression and performance.

Around 500 B.C. when ancient Greek mathematicians, scientists and philosophers discovered that the earth was round, many were persecuted for their findings. The all female cast journies boldly to the edge of the earth with the premiere of Flat Effect. The work is created to expose both the cause and effect of irrational fears and how they are handed down through generations of women. The title, Flat Effect, refers to the once unquestioned belief that the world was flat, as well as to all anxieties that arise from fear of the unknown.
