In chaos theory, the butterfly effect proves that a single occurence, no matter how small, can change the course of the universe forever. The name of the effect, coined by Edward Lorenz, derives from the theoretical example that “The flap of a butterfly's wings in Brazil can set off a Tornado in Texas”.
