"Badiou on Badiou" will occur at Kendall College of Art & Design (KCAD), 17 Fountain Street NW, Grand Rapids, Michigan July 14-18, 2014. The five-day course-event will feature the world-renowned French philosopher Alain Badiou live, in-person (125-person max capacity) and can also be taken online via live, interactive video. Each day, Professor Badiou will proceed through one stage of his own development as a thinker, culminating in the present period. Additionally, a documentary film on Badiou ("Badiou: a Life") will be shot as the course-event proceeds, producing the first feature-length film to cover the entirety of the philosopher's ouevre, as Badiou himself frames it. Additional seminars (Violence, Atrocity & Justice) and a synoptic roundtable event will involve Cécile Winter, Michael J. Shapiro, Azfar Hussain, Creston Davis and Jason Adams. "Badiou on Badiou" is organized by the Global Center for Advanced Studies and is intentionally organized to be available to anyone, anywhere who pays tuition or is a member of a co-sponsoring organization, academic department or academic institution. After registering, please join the course FB group.
