Hey Cookout addicts! We’ve got some smooth melodies and blues rock vibing up for you this legendary Cookout with two extremely talented acts brightening up your Sunday afternoon.
The cookout begins with our very own High Idol prodigies Tejas Menon! Tejas is a singer-songwriter from planet earth. His music is simple acoustic pop rock, mostly because he's influenced by really nice big melodies and hooks, and also cause he can't fix a band together. He has played at a variety of venues including the Bandstand Revival Mumbai and ‘Live from the Console’. His song 'Evidence' was featured on Ennui.Bomb’s Stupiditties 666 and recently on the Mumbai edition of Balcony TV. He was also nominated for the Toto Award for Music 2013 and received the special jury commendation. Also he wishes he could meet KT Tunstall, cause that would be awesome.
Following Tejas Menon is the Kanchan Daniel Band from Bombay!
The Kanchan Daniel band is a Bombay based blues outfit. The sound of the band is modern blues rock and consists of powerful vocals, tasty guitar and piano solos and foot stomping, drum rolls and groovy bass lines that revive the feel of the lost blues. Their songs are fresh and familiar with hip shaking addictive melodies and their stage shows are full of vibrant energy. What sets the band apart from every other band though is the rawness and range in vocalist Kanchan Daniel's voice- a violence that rips across the otherwise a smooth serenade. The band is a whacked-out group, making the most of their interactions with audiences when they are performing and keeping it alive as much as possible. So popular are their acts that they often have had to play more songs than their sets demand for. Those are the times when Daniel gets into her 'Wiggle Mama' mode; something that has to be witnessed firsthand to understand fully.
The band takes inspiration from blues music that is as old as the 1940s, classic bands such as Led Zeppelin, ZZ Tops and Derek Trucks band; electric blues guitarists such as Joe Bonamassa and Jeff Beck and artists such as Etta James, Janis Joplin, Beth Hart, B.B King, John Mayer, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Robert Cray, Buddy Guy and they plan on releasing their EP early next year.
