Per la quinta puntata abbiamo scelto di proporvi due ospiti TECHNO:
TOMY DeCLERQUE (Intec)
Born in 1984, Michele and Raffaele discovered electronic music in the year 2000. Soon after, they began following the Italian nightlife and attending the most important european festivals such as “I Love Techno” in Belgium and “Timewarp” in Germany. During those trips abroad they discovered the magical feeling between Djs and their crowds. Growing up, they started to open up to new sounds, especially the ones created by techno guru Richie Hawtin, aka Plastikman. Michele and Raffaele radically changed their musical tastes: their current style is minimal techno with detroit and tech-house influences. Thanks to their skills and love for music, Michele and Raffaele went on to play at several important clubs in Italy. Michele and Raffaele play their sets with a mix of both traditional and new hardwares, achieving the best sound possible: a drum machine, FX and Traktor Scratch technology, creating a perfect mix between a classical Dj set and a computer-based Live Set. In 2006 a new project came to life: MINICOOLBOYZ Michele and Raffaele began playing back2back, trying to find out new sounds and styles ranging form acid sounds and the hardest grooves. Their career started in various italian clubs and their first tracks immediately received great feedbacks from Italian and international Dj’s, charting at the top of Beatport’s Chart. In October 2008, Richie Hawtin chose one of their remix for his compilation CD “Sounds from Can Elles”, available worldwide with DJ Mag and later released on his Label “Minus” (www.m-nus.com/can_elles ): “Varese ist leer” is one of the highlights of the album, its sales peaking on charts all over the world and remaining in the Top Ten most requested Techno songs for a long time. 2009 was a landmark year for MiniCoolBoyz: all the top djs of the techno and tech house world play their tracks, most notably Richie Hawtin, Marco Carola, Paco Osuna, Joris Voorn and many others. Beatport brands them “Richie Hawtin’s Prodigies” (www.beatportal.com/feed/item/meet-can-elles-producers-richie-hawtins- prodigies/ ) Dubfire calls them: “The future stars of electronic music!” and signs two of their tracks to his label Sci+Tec Digital Audio (www.beatportal.com/feed/item/future-stars-of-electronic-music/ ). Releases followed on acclaimed labels such as SCI+TEC Digital Audio, Saved Records, Octopus, Bitten, Terminal M, Kling Klong, Great Stuff, MBF and many more, and gigs were booked at some of the most important clubs in Europe and festivals such as Watergate, Weekend, Heineken Balaton Sound, Igloofest, Electrovenice. MINICOOLBOYZ are currently focusing on a vinyl only special project called Triptych, and an ep is set to be released on Carl Cox’s Intec Digital imprint.
Bio Tomy DeClerque:
A member of the new generation of Slovenian deejays, Tomy De Clerque grew up in an environment full of promising development in the sphere of electronic dance music. In front of his eyes the local scene has been turning into a globally acknowledged style of techno music in the hands of artists such as Umek and Valentino Kanzyani. A natural choice for a guy with talent and ambition was to jump the train – and Tomy DeClerque has ridden it ever since.
Performing as a deejay since he turned seventeen Tomy DeClerque soon realised that making his own production was essential if he wanted his carrier to really take off. He hooked up with his friend Zox to form the Tomy or Zox duo, and their hard work paid off as their My Desire single received some favourable feedback in Spain, Russia and Mexico. However, it was the Music Makes Me Happy hit single that caught the attention of top artists being remixed by the likes of Mainframe and ATCF, and released on several prestigious compilations, such as Ministry Of Sound, DJ Awards at Pacha Ibiza and Blanco Y Negro Mix. ‘The greatest satisfaction, though, – Tomy says – was when we got set as Essential new tune of the week on Pete Tong’s celebrated Essential selection radio show.
After parting ways with Fox, Tomy felt that it was time to take a break from a demanding life of producer and performer, before he went on to start his solo career. Searching for genuine underground sound that could revive the authentic feeling of electronic dance music he experienced in his youth Tomy turned to Valentino Kanzyani’s Jesus Loved You label releasing a much praised I Don’t Know. Driven by his passion for teamwork, a lot of his studio work is done in collaboration with his friend F. Sonik. The duo’s first major success was winning VONYC remix competition with a remix of Valentino Kanzyani’s Nueva York, which is also a part of Carl Cox & friends at Space Ibiza 2008 compilation.
As a young player, Tomy DeClerque has accomplished a lot. But he is determined to accomplish even more. ‘You’ll hear a lot about me in the future,’ he promises.
