Il dizionario delle collocazioni, curated by Paola Tiberii and pubblished by Zanichelli editore, is an instrument that must be in the reference library of every teacher and student of Italian language, but also every translator, interpreter, and all those who use their Italian language in their profession.
The idea came about from the need to have a practical repertoire of word combinations, something useful and easy to consult. Unlike the common dictionary, the Dizionario delle collocazioni considers the word not for its meaning but for its associative ability and it concentrates exclusively on the combination of words, suggesting the best adapt words to be paired. The Dictionary is an extremely useful tool for non-native Italian speakers for increasing vocabulary and identifying the correct usage of collocations, or the arrangement of words, which are always difficult to master without such a specific resource.
The 640 page volume is formed by 6,000 terms belonging to three grammar categories: nouns, adjectives and verbs. For every definition a choice of combinations (almost 200,000 in all) is offered, each organized in different ways, depending on the use and the grammar category.
Copies of the book will be available for purchasing.
