RADDA in CHIANTI (Tuscany-Siena) WineArt & TAnGO-31oct./2 Nov.2014

Radda In Chianti Tuscany Radda In Chianti Siena, Italy

RADDA in CHIANTI (Tuscany - Siena)

‘’WineArt & TAnGO‘’

Argentine Tango Weekend and Holistic Holiday dedicated to Friendship and the Joy of Living.

From 31 October until 2 November 2014

CHIANTI. The ideal journey to Tuscany should start at its core, the Chianti, then proceed towards the other more famous tourist places all around it. This is an enchanting hilly area, with its diversity no less renowned than other celebrated cities. "Chianti" as a name is also associated in the entire world to its famed wine. From the geographic point of view, the Chianti is a medium-high hilly area stretching for almost 20 kilometres.
From the historic point of view, its name seems to derive from the towns of Gaiole, Radda and Castellina (called "in Chianti") only. These lands composed the ancient "Chianti Florence Military League", with a Black Cock as its emblem. Seen from one of the many heights of the region, the silvery olive trees, the green geometric vines, the cypress-sided roads, the yellow brooms on the borders of the woods create evocative and harmonious landscapes, which suggest only one inspiring mind is behind them. The ancient Chianti land, originally Etrurian, then Roman, was mostly mountainous, not hilly (even though not very high). Since Middle Ages until Renaissance it was a permanent battlefield for wars and skirmishes between the powerful cities of Siena and Florence, which fought for those lands. Many castles and fortified towns stand as authentic testimony of these fights and battles. Castles, towns and small villages, farmhouses, parishes, Renaissance villas, built with stones and often hidden in valleys and woods, stood up as natural elements of the landscape. Some valleys have been cleared of trees to leave room for agriculture: chestnut and oak woods, and olive fields and vineyards. These highly specialized, high-quality produces have contributed to date to the wealth of the Chianti region.
