Arrived in 2014 in its 11th edition, the Festival presents every year up to 30 works, including documentaries, animation and film of inquiry to witness the universe of the rights attached to the land through the eyes and words of those who are the protagonist: small food producers, local communities, indigenous peoples and all those who are fighting to defend their land and territory. The stories, of which the Festival becomes a witness, tell the different forms of denial of rights, resistances and alternatives with a view to the conservation of "biodiversity", understood as biological diversity, social and cultural development. They shared stories and at the same time complex once known may radically change our view of the world. The Lands Festival is organized by the International Centre Crossroads, an association of international solidarity and cooperation established in 1958 We work in the areas of education, communication and agriculture, promoting and carrying out field work in favor of indigenous and peasant communities, as well training activities and the creation of international networks of organizations such as the International Committee for Food Sovereignty (IPC on Food Sovereignty) recently involved in the "Voluntary Guidelines on responsible management of land," approved by the United Nations in the field of CFS / FAO and numerous coordinations and campaigns. This year the festival will be dedicated to Chandrika Sharma, Indian activist of the International Collective in Support of Fishworkers, who died on board the aircraft of the Malaysian airline in March and to the men and women working to invent a future alternative and fair. The festival will be divided into thematic sections. One section will cover food sovereignty and the principle of agrobiodiversity and the rights of farmers to produce (access to and control of land, seed, areas of artisanal fisheries, etc), through the voice of the peasants and the testimony of their battles . A second section will give us the opportunity to investigate the mechanisms instead of speculation revolving around the agro-food production chain. The financialization of agriculture and the massive investment in speculative purchase of land - have created new and complex phenomena of rising prices reflected not only at the international level, but also at national and local levels, accompanied by a constant denial of the right to sustainable production of food. In this section you will be presented with a reflection on the debt crisis and the growing gap between the real needs and public policies that often lead to wars together, increasing migration with the dramatic consequences that we know. The works presented at the festival from all over the world: we take care of a version subtitled in Italian, available to the authors, to allow the film to reach a wider audience and not to alter the evidence brought to the screen. We give space to the work of small independent producers, who are struggling to find a place in a commercial that does not always reward quality. We promote meetings with the authors of the film, that more and more involved in the first days of the Festival. The film of the Festival of Terre are presented in four different Italian cities: Rome, 11th edition (October 17:18:19), Cosenza 1st edition (November 12:13), Cagliari 3rd edition (November 15:21:22), Milan (5th edition ) and other Italian and international festivals such as the Festival but also all in the same dish of Trento. Also reviews from the festival will be held in Siena, Reggio Emilia and S.Marzano (TA). An important part of the festival are lectures and workshops focusing on issues in which Crossroads is always busy, as the defense of collective rights on the ground (against landgrabbing), the food crisis and the right to food.
