Having enjoyed a storming start to 2014 with a sold out event at Shoreditch’s Village Underground, John Digweed’s Bedrock returns to London for the imprint’s traditional Easter celebrations on Thursday 17th April. Taking place at the subterranean hideout that is Vauxhall’s Fire & Lightbox, Bedrock will showcase three rooms of house and techno. With some of the scenes most exciting players showcased in the Capital over the past fifteen years, Bedrock will again leave no stone unturned and deliver a forward-thinking line-up which encapsulates a wide spectrum of sounds.
At Easter Bedrock John Digweed will deliver another timeless journey through his trademark beats via an extended six hour main room set alongside some very special guests. This bespoke collection of artists are either signed to Bedrock Records or long time favourites of John and all will reflect the imprints underground ethos. This will be John’s second visit to the Capital this year following the sold out Village Underground event. His headline performance at Bedrock is the ideal platform through which to see this master at work and is certainly not to be missed.
As one of house music’s finest producers, we are delighted to welcome Ripperton to Bedrock for the very first time. Firmly established as a true ambassador of dark and melodic beats, Ripperton’s most recent studio output has been in the form of his second album ‘A Little Part Of Shade’, three track EP ‘77’ and a Robert Babicz remix. The immersive techno and refined house prevalent in these productions have proven hugely popular in his sets at Europe’s seminal nightclubs and it’s with great excitement that we look forward to Ripperton’s Bedrock debut.
In the Lightbox Bedrock welcomes one of the most sought after female DJs currently residing on the house circuit, the magnificent Kim Ann-Foxman. Having built a globetrotting schedule from her own DJ and production pursuits, Kim can be found touring the world’s finest clubs and festivals. Her sound boasts intense and chunky grooves placed on top of raw and directive basslines as evident in her recent collaborations with Maya Jane Coles and KiNK. Having delivered standout performances at The Warehouse Project and Fabric, we welcome the Big Apple’s finest to Bedrock as she intoxicates the Lightbox with her infectious sounds.
Kim will be joined by one of electronic music’s hottest prospects, Harvey Mckay. Harvey is a name that has continued to rise thanks to a reputation for one-off originals, killer remixes and energetic DJ sets. His powerful productions have been released on labels including Drumcode, Bedrock, Soma, Saved and Cocoon, with his ‘Lost’ EP continuing to dominate Beatport’s techno chart three months after its release. With his new EP ‘Illusion of Control’ set to have a similar impact, Harvey’s debut performance at Bedrock is set to be a true highlight on Thursday 17th April.
As one of the most influential figures dance music has ever seen, Darren Emerson’s history has been well documented; a former member of Underworld and producer of one of the greatest tracks ever in 'Born Slippy', he also captured the public’s imaginations with dancefloor anthem 'Scorchio' (with Sasha) plus unforgettable remixes for The Chemical Brothers and Björk. More recently, Emerson’s debut Bedrock release ‘Hotdog’ and EP on Hotflush (as ‘The White Lamp’) has caused huge waves. Joining us off the back of a Japanese Tour as well as performances in India, Australia and Argentina, Bedrock please welcome Darren Emerson.
Also playing the Lightbox following his outstanding performance at the fifteenth anniversary party, is one of 2013’s breakthrough artists Eagles & Butterflies. Since emerging onto the scene, E&B has come a long way in establishing himself. Having gained significant interest by spinning at Space Ibiza’s Clandestin party throughout last summer, Eagles & Butterflies’ latest studio offering, the ‘SYW003’ EP will be released on his own imprint, Spread Your Wings. Joining us ahead of the release of his debut artist album, ‘The Butterfly Effect’, Eagles & Butterflies completes the Lightbox lineup brilliantly, thanks to his forward-thinking track selection and superb technical ability.
Elusive Bristol based producer Dubspeeka, who recently debuted on Oliver Huntemann's Ideal Audio label, headlines the Protocol room hosted by Subculture. Having impressed with an array of releases over the past twelve months, on labels such as Bedrock, Truesoul, Hope and on his very own Skeleton imprint, he's now focussed on exploring the full spectrum of electronic music under his Dubspeeka alias. Exciting many of the underground's elite over the last year with his distinctive sound, his tunes are driven by the heaviest of basslines and kick-drums, plus a dark and industrial edge.
Completing the bill for Bedrock’s Easter showcase is Blue Amazon. His direct approach to mixing allows him to dive deep into the realms of tech house and techno to energize and stimulate the crowd. Blue Amazon’s performances are always seamless, building dynamically from melodic basslines to high-energy techno beats. Having originally developed from his hip-hop based roots, Blue Amazon’s technical ability to manipulate effects, loops and everything in between is second to none and has been evident in his previous sets alongside the likes of John Digweed, Sasha and Danny Howells to name a few.
