"I'll Listen to Just About Anything" - The Record-Breaking V.A. Compilation!

South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands

Those that know me well, know that I love organising massive compilations, or smaller ones that somehow spiral into massive 8 hour long things.

After much discussion, and searching, I've found the biggest compilation online is a 500-track vinyl of locked grooves. See here for more info on that: http://www.discogs.com/release/94233

I don't think there's anything bigger than that, but if you know of anything bigger, let me know so I can up the number of tracks needed to break it!

So - I think with help from all of you, your friends, connections, etc. - we can break that number of 500 and make truly the biggest collection of music on one release to date!

Arguably, the number to beat is 500. But if we can push it further than that, then I will be much happier. This is a NO RUSH compilation, meaning you will NOT miss out on a chance to be involved until we have amassed a huge collection.

The working title is "I'll Listen to Just About Anything", considering there will be a massive amount of eclectic music on board.

1. There must be only ONE track per artist/band/project. I've seen a few big compilations, but a lot of them are just DJ sets by 6 or 7 artists. This doesn't count in my opinion.
2. The track can be any length, 0:00 to hours - however, as above, it must not be a DJ Set/Live Set/Full Album/etc.
3. Live tracks ARE allowed however, but they must be one individual live track (or if the entire set is one big long improv. that is also acceptable).
4. Remixes are also acceptable, on two conditions;
(a) It be a remix of the artist's own work (like a remake/reworking of an old track).
or (b) Both the artist who did the remix, and the original artist are happy for the track to be used.
5. The track does NOT have to be exclusive to this compilation. The track also does NOT have to be a new track, or an unreleased track. It can be old, new, unreleased, whatever.
6. Multiple bands/projects are acceptable - i.e. if you make music under different aliases, you are welcome to include as many of those as you'd like. You are also welcome to invent new projects for the comp. too.
7. The track can be ANY genre. And I do mean anything.

So you've read the rules and get the idea, now what? Well, you send your track! Preferably I'd like people to make a new track for this release, but I will be happy if you just want to send an older/unreleased one too.

Once you have a track ready, use one of the many sending services (Wetransfer, Yousendit, etc.), or email me directly, or email me a download link to the following address: forfeh@gmail.com

Please include the following information:
1. Band/artist/project name.
2. Track name.
3. A link to a website/band page.

1. Will it be released just online? - Initially this will be released as a free download. There will be potential for a boxset after that. This will probably be in the form of a Blu-Ray or DVD boxset due to the size, but that sort of thing will be sorted at a later date.
2. Is there a theme? - No. If we limit ourselves to just one idea, then it will be harder for a mass amount of people to get involved.
3. When is the deadline? - Currently, there is NO deadline. This is a simple case of getting 500+ tracks to beat the biggest compilation currently out there.
4. How else can I help? - Spreading the word is top priority! I only have about 100+ musical friends here, but it's all about word of mouth. Send the details to all of your musical friends, help get as many people on board as possible.
5. File format? Anything is fine, but WAV or FLAC is the preferable format.
6. What license will it be released under? I'm unsure at this point - it will either be public domain or just unlicensed.
7. Payment? Due to the sheer amount of bands on board, payment is not an option - considering it will also be released free. The best I can offer is a discount for the physical copy to anyone who contributes a track.
