True Jungle Souljahs are back with a vengeance, rolling out the hard hitting heavy weapons with the return of the headcracking skull smashing beast mode known as MECHWARRIOR (Barcode, Canada).
Supported by the mechanic droids:
Mechwarrior started promoting and dj'ing in 1996 in Sydney, Australia.
After promoting successful techno and DnB events in the World War II-era bunkers that dot Sydney Harbors shoreline as well as venues like The Occidental he switched his focus onto dj'ing.
The first promoters to take interest were Junglepunks. Although the name suggests a DnB leaning, the two founders, Jamie 'SpeakaFreaka' Sparks and Alex 'Manson' Morgan were staunch hard-techno fans and the name came from the outdoor venues used. They saw something in the young dj's techno-influenced sets and he became their first DnB resident.
Soon the local strictly-DnB gigs started to flow in after the word had spread. Mechwarrior found himself playing alongside UK heavyweights. About this time Mechwarrior made another shift back into promoting, and the Intellect series of events was born at now legendary, but sadly demolished, Sydney venue 61 Regent.
In 2000 and 2001, after being invited to play in Vancouver, Canada, Mechwarrior made the decision to move across the Pacific in June 2002.
From the get-go Mechwarrior was busy. Attending college for audio engineering and post-production by day, and by night playing the local clubs and parties. For whatever reason, most of Mechwarriors dj success was down in the United States...especially in Seattle, where he was virtually a local for the amount of bookings he recieved.
He soon teamed up with Vancouver dj and producer Psidream and the two began producing music and presenting Overload Radio together. What followed was many co-headling sets in Vancouver and Seattle and three hard-hitting tunes signed by Barcode Recordings...Stitches, Last Walk and Pressure Point which were later licenced by Renegade Hardware. The duo also signed music to Dj Traces DSCI4 Recordings and Dylan's Outbreak Recordings but, unfortunately those were never released.
After some time away from DnB he has now made a resurgence, and the bookings are stacking up, from Seattle to New York, London to Croatia. Actively promoting again in Vancouver with fellow Australian, Adrian 'Element MC' Farfan under the name Fractured Technique, the two have brought a slew of up-front headliners due through town including Alix Perez (Shogun Audio), Commix (Metalheadz), Icicle (Shogun Audio), Loxy (Metalheadz, Cylon Recordings), Dj Distance (Chestplate), N-type Hatcha & MC Crazy D (Sin City Recordings) and dBridge (Exit Recordings). With more tours in the pipeline these two are not content to sit back and relax!
