WE ARE THE CAT! STORIES AND IMAGES OF CATS Pisa, Museum of Graphic - Palazzo Lanfranchi December 19, 2014 - March 15, 2015 After the success of Sweet Water, the exhibition dedicated to water in 2013, the Museum of Graphic proposes a new, impressive appointment with art and science. The idea of ​​the exhibition We are cat! It was conceived as a project of scientific communication promoted by the Museum of Natural History, University of Pisa, and supported by the Region of Tuscany. The project, dedicated to the precursor of modern genetics Gregor Johann Mendel, intends to explain the color of the cat through the laws that are named after him (the Carthusian Monastery is home to a large colony of cats with coats of different colors). Starting from the works of their collections and with the generous contribution of private collectors, the Museum of Graphic wanted to share the spirit and purpose of the project by setting up at Palazzo Lanfranchi a path of stories and images with which artists of different ages have depicted and told the cat. From ancient Egypt to contemporary, including precious faience amulets and "Neko" playing with a computer mouse, with references to the illustration scientific and humanization animal body takes an original portrait gallery felines. By Federico Barocci some protagonists of the '900, you can see graphic works by Antonio Bobò, Benito Boccolari, Spartacus Carlini, Antonio Carbonates, Paul Ciampini, Furio de Money, Welcome Deserters, Franco Gentilini, Marcello Guasti, Silvio Loffredo, Antonio Possenti, Toti Scialoja, Luigi Servolini, Giorgio Settala. The title We Cat !, which incorporates a saying widely used in Tuscany to refer to situations of extreme difficulty, is set admission of feline power, referring to our being accomplices and victims of the irresistible charm of the cat. In the period of the exhibition, the cinema Arsenal propose "Cinegatto", a series of meetings with some of the most famous and fascinating animated movie about cats, beginning with The Aristocats (1970) scheduled for Monday, December 22 in the original version with subtitles in Italian .
