Via Voghera 14, Milan, Italy

by Vittorio Schieroni and Elena Amodeo M4A - MADE4ART Via Voghera 14 - entrance Via Cerano, Milan Opening Tuesday, January 13, 2015, 18:30 13 to 17 January 2015 Made4Art, space and services for art and culture, opens the new 2015 exhibition season with a two-person artist Ennio and Alessandro Vicario by Elena Amodeo and Vittorio Schieroni. Father and son share the use of the photographic medium in the arts come together in a show that wants to juxtapose two different sensibilities and two different approaches to photography presenting evocative portraits of landscapes and environments dominated by water: two generations of artists in comparison to investigate the same subjects decades later. Horizons where the sea merges with the sky, salt marshes, rice fields, canals: subjects that highlight the importance of water as a common cultural and environmental heritage, transport route, source of life and nourishment for the area, with obvious reference the themes that characterize the upcoming Expo Milano 2015. Ennio Vicario (Milan, 1935), leading figures of Italian photography, professionally trained and raised in the artistic and intellectual of Milan after World War II, was patron of the Brera and of the Bar Jamaica - where he exhibited with a staff in 1955 - that have been a focus of Italian cultural life. In 1967 he was among the founders of the State Institute of Art in Monza; in 1998 he left teaching and the commercial sector to devote himself to documentary photography and research. Several publications and exhibitions that he was the protagonist, with works whose subject places, landscapes and architecture, for example in Iran, Yemen and the Dolomites. The works exhibited by Made4Art are shots taken during the eighties that represent, in a stylish black and white, magical places where the landscape is reflected in the mirrors of water and contours fade into the mist. In dialogue with the works of Ennio, exhibited a selection of works by Alessandro Vicario (Modena, 1968) belonging to the series "Salt" and "Horizons", shots characterized by a refined presence chromatic and rigor of the composition, the works share a deep contemplative dimension. Made4Art has a staff dedicated to Alessandro Vicario in the fourth edition of the international fair of contemporary art Step09 (The Steam Factory - Milan, 22 to 24 February 2013) and a staff at the headquarters of the gallery (Contemplations, December 11, 2013 - January 8 2014). The exhibition of Ennio and Alessandro Vicario, who inaugurates the new exhibition season of Made4Art, wants to focus attention on the relationship between water, natural environment and urban context, an issue that is particularly important for a city like Milan, crossed by his Vie d 'Water, heritage of historical value and human, with rivers running through it, its canals, locks Leonardo and the dock, for so long a real port city. The exhibition opens a season full of events related to photography that will involved the gallery, including exhibitions, participation in contemporary art fairs such as Art Fair (Bologna, 23 to 26 January 2015) and MIA - Milan Image Art Fair (The Mall - Milan, 11 to 13 April 2015), and events in the sector as Photofestival (Milan, Spring and Fall 2015).
