Historic Carnival of Santhia '

Tradition, folklore and fun: these are the secrets of the historic Carnival Santhià, the oldest of the Piedmont, event that has its roots in the past, keeping an eye on the news and for young people. There are many events in the program of the festivities: Official opening ceremony (01.06.2015), after which each week the traditional husks and congregations to accompany the most anticipated events: The presentation of Masks (Tuesday, 02/10/2015 ); the festivities of the evening where Giobia Grass drinking, eating and dancing in the streets of the city (Thursday, 12/02/2015); the entrance of Masks in the city, all santhiatesi find themselves in Piazza Roma to hear the traditional speech from the balcony of the City Stevulin made after the mayor handed over the keys of the city to the couple that for the three days of Carnival will be masters absolute Santhià and guide all citizens during the entire course of the festivities (Saturday, 02/14/2015). Then all the attention goes to the Masked Courses: the city is filled with floats handmade with paper mache, and even masks walking, mixed groups and hundreds of costumes that, in a riot of color, joy will enrich every street (Sunday, 15/02/2015). But the real symbol of the carnival tradition is what is relived on Monday gasso when at 5 am in the market place will be lit fires to Colossal Fagiolata: a show within the show that summons thousands of guests, ready to share moments holiday full of good food and tradition. To make the magical atmosphere of dawn are the 150 copper kettles set on trestles, filled with bean 15q, 10q of salami 1.5q 1.5q lard and onion. A beautiful image that recalls ancient times of celebration where the fire, with its heat, united the population in a magical moment of sharing and celebration (Monday, 16/02/2015). Finally, after the grand Parade Night (Monday, 16/02/2015), after the last course in disguise (Tuesday, 17/02/2015) will be announced the winners, then all santhiatesi will reverse in the square for the burning of Rome and Babaciu to give the appointment to another edition of the festival more colorful Vercelli. The entrance to the masked day is a fee (EUR 5 adults, free under 12).
