Move from sketch to canvas in this three-session workshop (February 8, 15, and 22) covering the time-honored process of using drawn studies to inform paintings. Look closely at the work of Cézanne in the exhibition "Madame Cézanne" and learn contour line and shading techniques for rendering a range of forms and volumes from observation. Sketch your subject from multiple points of view and transfer your drawings to canvas as you learn to mix and match color. Create a series of small studies and work on one extended painting as you experiment with the way expression, gesture, and context affect how a subject is perceived.
Fee: $215 for the three-session workshop (includes Museum admission and materials). Limited student discounts available. Registration and details here: http://met.org/1umHRta
