Project Description: The Laurel Highlands Hiking Trail is located in the Laurel Highlands region of southwestern PA. This area is home to some of the most spectacular natural scenery and exhilarating outdoor recreation in the eastern United States. The focus of this project will include on-the-ground trail work involving removal and replacement of more than 10 foot bridges, removal, repair, and replacement of over 20 water bars, and re-blazing 20 miles of trail.

Area and Attractions: There are over 100,000 acres of public lands located in the Laurel Highlands. One of the main recreational destinations and features is the 70-mile Laurel Highlands Hiking Trail. This trail is also part of the Potomac Heritage National Scenic Trail. The LHHT offers some of the most rugged and rewarding hiking in the Commonwealth. Scenic vistas, unique geologic features, lush northern hardwood forests, pristine waterways, and fresh mountain air await.
Accommodations Description: Volunteers will stay in the the Hufman Lodge which sleeps 14. 2 bedrooms w/ double beds, 1 bedroom w/ bunk beds, 1 bedroom w/ double beds, 1 bedroom w/ 2 sets of bunk beds and the rec room has 2 pull out couches. 3 bathrooms, one and one-half kitchen, rec room, laundry, hot water heating system, wood burner, AC, outdoor fire ring, deck. Volunteers should bring their own linens and personal gear.
