Kenneth Christiansen | Luke Hess (live) | g-Ha & Olanskii | Celius | Oskar Pask | Ricky Late
This week Danish label Echocord hop over the border from Copenhagen to take over our basement for an evening showcasing what they do best. Label-boss Kenneth Christiansen is heading the charge for the evening with Luke Hess bring a very special Live set all the way from Detroit.
Kenneth Christiansen and his Echocord label have long been the guardians of dub techno’s second wave. As a DJ, Kenneth has been spinning ever since the beginning of the 90’s, immediately picking up gigs all around Europe because of his unique style and tightly honed sonic vision. Few people manage to remain credible and engaged with the underground over such a long period of time, but thanks to his devotion to his city, sounds and the scene, this man has managed it with ease and is here to stay. When Kenneth is djing his focus is mostly on Dub-Techno but also he likes to spin the underground edgy house and Techno. Kenneth is a vinyl dj.
Luke Hess was educated by some of Detroit's finest through the likes of Carl Craig and Omar S, finding a home for his music on both Craig and Omar's labels before venturing further out into the world through labels like Echocord. Hess has harnessed a deep appreciation for electronic music and the expression of the underground movement. His background in mathematics and engineering has given him a scientific approach to the dance-floor, using frequencies, tones, and soundscapes to transform surroundings and mood. The Detroit producer brings the Tech to Techno in anything he approaches including his mesmerising live shows. With 15 years of experience behind him and many notable LIVE sets across the world, Luke is regarded as a perfectionist on stage.
Meanwhile in our backyard...
The late evening sun is slowly sinking on the horizon, and Celius is at the controls for the last portion of his set. The crowd swells with the music as the tempo bumps up to 120bpm, glasses glistening in the last rays of sun before the big star inevitably departs for the day and we give in to nocturnal urges. Oskar Pask and Ricky late take over where Celius left off and lay the bedrock for g-Ha and Olanskii to take us well into the early hours of the morning, and if were lucky, early enough for us to see the first rays of sun stretching over the opposite horizon – even our noble star, couldn't stay away for very long. G-Ha & Olanskii bring with them a lifetime of experience, playing venues all across Europe and the journey can take us through everything from quaint Disco to mischievous Techno. Your weekend starts here.
