Join us on Sunday, June 5th, at the Museum of Ventura County, for a celebration of World Oceans Day!
Meet park divers and marine biologists and learn about their work protecting and monitoring our underwater environment, explore and touch marine animals at UCSB's Mobile Touch Tank, take a pledge to help keep our oceans safe and healthy, and more!
Family-friendly activities will be available throughout the day, including fish prints, a button maker, shark hats, elephant seal masks, marine debris games, and an ocean scavenger hunt. Kids can also participate in five different Junior Ranger programs to earn their badges.
12:00 pm - Channel Islands Live Dive. Watch a Live Dive and follow the park divers as they explore the kelp forests around Anacapa Island
12:30 pm - Pinniped Fashion Show. Join a ranger to learn about the adapations of pinnipeds (seals and sea lions) - one lucky audience member will be transformed into a pinniped!
1:00 pm - Lecture. NOAA research operations specialist Ryan Freedman will speak about his work tagging and tracking sharks along the California coast.
2:00 pm - Channel Islands Live Dive.
2:30 pm - Pinniped Fashion Show.
3:00 pm - Lecture.
The admission for this event is free, as part of the Free First Sundays series at the Museum of Ventura County.
